Office of Educational Accountability

Welcome!

The Office of Education Accountability (OEA) was established July 1, 2000, with a mandate to:

     Improve student achievement
     Improve school completion

To achieve these goals, OEA's major purpose is the establishment of performance-based accountability standards for all of Georgia's education system, from prekindergarten through postsecondary grades (P-16). OEA also has responsibility for development of reports centering on education workforce issues.

2000-2001 Report Card:

OEA is mandated to produce a state report card for grades K-12 beginning December 2001. This report card contains test results as well as other information relevant to schools and their performance toward the goals of student achievement and school completion. OEA has developed a phased-in timeline for the assignment of school grades and ratings that will be issued beginning in 2003. For phased-in report card implementation timelines and other information, please visit the OEA Web Site:
www.ga-oea.org.

The 2000-2001 Report Card includes four major sections:

1. Student performance results from Georgia tests
2. School performance indicators
3. School demographic information
4. National test results

The 2000-2001 Report Card also shows two-year comparisons (2000 and 2001 test results) for Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, the Middle Grades Writing Assessment, and Georgia High School Graduation Tests. Assessment results are summarized at the school, school system, and state level. Disaggregated data (when available) is provided by different student groupings (race/ethnicity, gender, disability, and limited English proficiency) as required by the A Plus Education Reform Act of 2000. Test information was supplied by the State Department of Education. For a detailed description of all the contents for each of these sections and rules of reporting, please see About the 2000-2001 Report Card.

OEA hopes that the information contained in this report and future reports will be used to make positive changes in education that will support teachers and help parents and students.
